Descriere: Kaia, a 17-year-old Iban woman, is betrothed to a man through the ancient Ngayap tradition. However, during their courtship, Kaia realizes that her suitor is not the right match for her. She courageously rejects him, triggering his obsession and rage. Enraged by Kaia’s rejection, the suitor kidnaps her and imprisons her in his secluded house. There, he subjects her to torment, treating her like a lifeless marionette. Kaia’s spirit refuses to break; instead, it grows stronger, fueled by anger and betrayal. As sunset, the suitor throws Kaia’s lifeless body into a murky lake. But death does not quench her wrath. Kaia’s vengeful soul awakens, haunting the waters. Any man who crosses the lake becomes her unwitting victim, paying the price for his cruelty which turn her into the legend of Kulir.
